Privacy, plainly
Effective August 14, 2026
Hey Addie is two things: a Mac app your baby plays with, and this website. Their privacy stories are very different, so here they are — separately, on purpose.
The app
The Hey Addie app collects nothing. Not “nothing much” — nothing. No ads, no accounts, no analytics, no tracking SDKs, and no network code at all: the app never makes a network request, and it works fully offline. First launch asks for nothing, either — no prompts, no sign-ups.
- Microphone. The optional microphone mode (babble and claps make gentle visual pulses) is off by default, and the app doesn’t even request the mic permission until you flip the setting yourself. When it’s on, audio is analyzed entirely on your Mac, in the moment — never recorded, never transmitted.
- Play stats. Session stats (presses per key and such) exist so you can see what your kid got up to. They live in a local file on your family’s Mac and never leave it.
- Purchases. Direct purchases are handled by a payment provider on the web — never by the app. On the Mac App Store, Apple handles payment. Either way, kids never see a store: packs live behind a hold-to-confirm parent gate.
This website
hey-addie.com is a normal website, and we keep its measurement deliberately light.
- We use PostHog analytics in cookieless mode: nothing is stored on your device — no cookies, no localStorage identifiers. No session recording, no cross-site tracking, and Do Not Track is respected.
- What we look at is aggregate: page views and a few product events, like demo plays and checkout-button clicks.
- The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server request logs.
- No ads here either, and we never sell data. Ever.
One honest note: when we say the app collects no data, we mean the app. The website’s analytics are listed right here, in the open, precisely so the two are never blurred.
